Stinky Towels!

So for my first post, I wanted to tell you about how I fixed my stinky towel situation.  You know how after you have a towel for so long it starts to smell.  No matter what detergent or fabric softener I used, they still smelled of mildew with a faint whiff of dog pee. Nobody wants to smell that as you are drying your face or wrapping your hair turban style in a towel.  I was almost to the point where I was going to toss them all and go splurge on all new towels.  Then I saw a post and figured I would give it a try.  It was a cheap fix and if it worked it would save  me tons of cash on buying new towels.  I’ve learned that the cleaning possibilities of two ingredients are limitless.
By now, I shouldn’t doubt, yet I did.  So I tossed all my towels into the washer and added 1 cup of  distilled white vinegar.  You have to run it with HOT water.  After that cycle completes, add in 1/2 cup of baking soda and run it again with HOT water.  Then dry them.  They will come out smelling fresh and clean.  No more stinky towels! It’s only been about a week since I did them so I’m not sure how often you should repeat the process.  Maybe every couple of months or whenever you notice that they are starting to smell again.  Happy washing!
